Creative Writing #3: Conflict

For today's blog post we were to create a short story using conflict. The characters could be made up or the story could be realistic.

My brother and I were always the arguing type of brother and sister, ever since we were little. Whenever I would attempt to get something done he would always interfere, or when I would try to talk he would interrupt me as I'm speaking.

One day as I was sitting in my room when I decided to try cleaning my closet, I heard stomping as if someone was sprinting really heavily up the stairs. It got louder and louder by the second, suddenly it sounded like it was just outside of my door. As I continued to clean my closet, when BAM! My door few wide open. My brother stomped in and yelled my name, "Chaylene!" I had to idea what was going on, it must had just been my regular brother on a daily bases. He started to bother me and annoy me, so I thought why can't I argue back... I yelled at him across the room and told him to get out. Although, he didn't move a budge, he sat there starring at me. I walked over to him and gave him a little push and said "would you just leave already, I've had enough." His response was "no" with a grin on his face as he started throwing my belongings around. I thought to myself why did I do that, I had a feeling he would push me back even harder. Two seconds later he pushed me onto my bed. I told him I was trying to clean my closet and having him in my room doesn't help, it's hard enough already. All he said was "I'm not leaving." I tried ignoring him and kept cleaning, but he continued to bug me and get in my way. I got up and left my room for a couple minutes, that was defiantly a bad idea. As I walked back in to him moving all my stuff around, taking things out of my closet and ruining things. I started to clean again as he began to call me names. I got fed up with him and threw a pen at him, he threw it back at me along with a brush. I whipped a pillow at his face, it turned into a pillow fight. It went on and on, eventually he stopped, he turned his back, I said “I win!” then all of the sudden he turned around in a flash, then hit me with the pillow one more time and ran down stairs. I went to chase after him but he locked himself in the bathroom. I had a feeling he wouldn’t come out for a while so I went back to my room and continued to clean my closet without being annoyed by my stupid brother. He finally left me alone, by surprise he never came back up to my room. In the end, everything was fine. It was just another argument like usual.

  1. It's funny how you mentioned Gunnar beating on you, and I mentioned that In mine to, without even realizing it. Obviously you wrote this from personal experience, and even though you're like the stereotypical siblings, I liked the details/facts

  2. I thought that was very well written. Their were a lot of detail and when I was reading I could relate to when me and my brother are arguing! Good job!!

  3. I agree, that was well done and very relatable, and I liked how you added characterization into your conflict.
